22 weeks, almost 6 months!
What babycenter.com has to say about this week..
How your baby's growing: Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches and almost 1 pound. Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until she gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her head and body is now visible. Her lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily.
Just life --
Things have been going okay this passed week. ;) I had my doctors appointment on Thursday, I was really hoping he would do an untrasound so I could find out what exactly it IS that I'm bringing into this world. Before I could even begin to ask (beg, plead, pay.. whatever it took) he told me he has an ultrasound scheduled for the 9th. So, on Friday, as long as this "baby" is cooperative, we'll finally know something. The ultrasound is actually specifically for them to go in and get a close look at the baby's heart. Since we couldnt do it last month, they re-scheduled it for now.
Being sick --
I'm finally getting over this congestion and mess in my chest. I still cough sometimes, but its all loosened up and I'm able to cough it up. (yum! you wanted to know that!) My coworker went to the doctor on Thursday and found out she has Strep throat (sp?). I'm glad I didnt get that bad.
The baby --
Im feeling the baby so much more now. Lastnight I was laying in bed reading, and I felt a *thump, thump, thump* so I put my hand in the spot, and I could feel the baby kicking (or punching..) my fingers. That was the first time I've actually been able to feel it on the outside! It was so exciting, but it was also about 12am, and my mom was sleeping, so I couldnt do too much celebrating. lol. I wanted to go jump on her and wake her up and let her feel it.. I wanted SOMEONE to experience it with me! My belly is actually starting to get hard now, and I can a difference. I dont feel like its just FAT anymore. I still havent caught on or really let it sink that I'm housing a little human being in here! Its so weird to think of that. lol.
I have one of those fetal monitor thingy's for home (I bought mine at Walmart for like $20). I love it. I listen everynight. I havent been able to hear the baby's heartbeat yet, because it isnt as strong as the ones the doctors use. I can hear the baby moving around though, and lastnight I put the speaker right in the spot he/she was kicking, and I could hear the "WHACK"! lol.
It came with hookups, so you could record the sounds onto your computer, and then your able to email it, etc. I am trying to find out how I could post the sound clip on message boards, here, etc. Any ideas? I think posting it here would be pretty easy.. just as easy as posting pictures. But, I've never did it before. I'll have to look into it.
School life --
I'm still really enjoying these classes that I'm taking (child development). I only have two more left though. Taking the tests is really going to be hard. Theres a test for each class (5) and each class held so much information.. theres no way to take it all in. Once Ive finished the classes completely, I'll probably just study one book at a time, and take the tests individually. Theres no way I could cram and take all 5 tests at one time!
